I am proud to report that MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL IS BACK UP! A lot of thanks have to go to Ryan Schott and Screenwave for contacting youtube and getting it all sorted out.
So what happened? Well, turns out it may not have ENTIRELY been a glitch. I wouldn’t even call it trolling. Whenever youtube changes something, it tends to run videos through the ContentID ringer again. It’s possible they even altered how sensitive the thing is. Once my channel was restored, about 25 or so ContentID claims came pouring into my e-mail. Looks like aaaall of those came into youtube at once and either automatically or arbitrarily decided, “Eh, screw that channel.” In fact, while I am typing this, I am STILL getting a few claims trickling in on any number of videos for using music or clips.
Some of these will be legitimate claims on my videos. After all, I HAVE used copyrighted clips in my content outside of that which applies to Fair Use. Some of them, though, with a cursory glance, include Longbox videos using music that I have officially purchased and licensed, so those are going to be fought first. This will be a case-by-case basis where I’ll have to decide whether it’s worth my time to fight it or just edit them and reupload them. Needless to say, though, I am VERY grateful to all of you for your continued support. This was a very stressful weekend with concerns about what I’d do over this and I’m going to do my damndest to keep the channel going.
As always, the best way to directly support me is to become a Patron, purchasing DVDs and T-shirts, but just watching the videos on youtube or here is helpful. Thanks again for everything and expect a State of the Wall post within the next few days that goes over a lot of stuff!
